One person was killed in an explosion at a Toyota auto parts plant in Toyota, Japan on Thursday, local television station CBC reports.

A dust collector exploded at the Fujioka plant in Chuo Spring at around 8am local time, prompting a male worker to call the fire department, local officials said.

According to the Japan Times, 19 fire engines have been dispatched to the scene, and efforts are underway to put out the fire.

Emergency services found one worker in cardiac arrest, and this person died at the scene. The victim's age and gender are not yet known.

Two other male employees, ages 52 and 44, suffered minor injuries.

Another explosion at the aforesaid plant had occurred in 2023, but the plant management said in a statement that Thursday's explosion occurred in a different building.

Authorities are investigating the cause of this explosion.
