Azerbaijan’s various publications related to the “trials” are aimed at influencing our feelings. Sargis Khandanyan, an MP of the ruling majority Civil Contract Faction and Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, stated this during Thursday’s press briefings at the NA.

“There is a temptation to make serious statements on this topic. There is a desire to say words with some weight. However, one must also understand to what extent these words can be useful for returning our prisoners currently being held in [the Azerbaijani capital of] Baku to Armenia,” Khandanyan added.

The secretary of the Civil Contract Faction, Artur Hovhannisyan, in turn, noted that this topic is very sensitive.

“Any comments coming from here are directly related to the ongoing processes and some arrangements,” Hovhannisyan noted.
