On March 8 at 09:26 local time (05:26 GMT) seismological network of the Territorial Seismic Protection Service of RA Ministry of Internal Affairs recorded an earthquake with a magnitude 4.6 at a depth of 10 km, 6 km to the North-East from Spitak city, Armenia, at the point with geographical coordinates 40.88⁰ North Latitude and 44.29⁰ East Longitude.

The magnitude of the earthquake in the epicentral zone was 6-7 MSK.

The earthquake was felt in Lori, Shirak, and Tavush regions with magnitude 4-6, as well as in Kotayk, Gegharkunik, and Aragatsotn regions with magnitude 2-4.
