Most Armenian citizens oppose constitutional amendments, sociologist Aram Navasardyan said at a press conference Wednesday, presenting the results their respective telephone survey.

Navasardyan noted that 18.4 percent of respondents believed that some provisions of the Armenian constitution should be amended, while another 7.5 percent said that a completely new constitution is needed.

“Moreover,, 59.6 percent of respondents said that the constitution should remain unchanged. 14.5 percent found it difficult to answer,” added Navasardyan.

The aforesaid telephone survey was conducted among 1,100 respondents—and from February 27 to March 6.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had stated recently that amendments to Armenia’s constitution were necessary.
