YEREVAN. – Armenian Speaker Samvel Nikoyan met on Friday with Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is on official visit to Armenia and the delegation headed by him.

Nikoyan stressed that warm relations with Iran have always been in development since Armenia’s independence, parliamentary press service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. The sides stressed the importance of economic relations, in particular, projects realization in the fields of energy and transportation.

Iranian president also stressed the existing relations and cooperation between Armenia and Iran believing that the Speaker and MPs will support the realization of the intended projects.

Ahmadinejad thinks it is important to activate the inter-parliamentary relations. Both sides stressed the importance of cooperation in international institutions.

The speaker estimated high Ahmadinejad’s and Iranian people’s traditional warm approach towards the Armenian community representatives adding that they are a Friendship Bridge between the two states and people.
