Perhaps the Russians have remembered that they were supposed to have peacekeepers there, who were supposed to protect the Karabakh people, that there was supposed to be a Lachin corridor, they were supposed to be standing there. The speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, told this to reporters in the NA Monday—and referring to the remark that the Russian foreign ministry spokesperson had recalled the three trilateral statements between 2020 and 2022:

"We [i.e. Armenia] have no problem with point 9 of the November 9 [2020] statement. There is a decree of their president, where it is written that one should petition to the Republic of Armenia, so that Armenia provides them with that information, so that they can do something. We are ready to provide that information now, too. What is the problem?

In the November 9 statement, there is talk about a corridor; it is the Lachin corridor, which no longer exists. That is a question for them to answer (…).

I don’t know if Azerbaijan wants such a thing to happen. Azerbaijan is always talking about there being no third party. Why do you only think the European monitors [in Armenia] when this agreement notes a third party? It notes that there cannot be any third party on our borders. And aren’t the Russians a third party?

And how is it that Azerbaijan agrees with us on a document where it specifies that there shall be no third party, but at the same time the Russian side makes a reference to the November 9 [statement] and, despite the fact that there is no word ‘corridor’ written there, attempts to bring this ‘corridor’ logic?

Armenia has not assumed anything like that in any document The roads passing through Armenia can only be under the legislation, sovereignty, and jurisdiction of the Republic of Armenia. No other option has been, is being, and will be discussed," the Armenian NA speaker stated.
