YEREVAN. – Real fir and pine trees are incomparable with artificial ones, Yerevan city hall designer Donara Kostanyan said commenting on purchase of firs for the New Year.

“Pines and oaks have greatest energy among the trees. Having a pine tree at home is equal to having a pharmacy. Artificial firs are of no comparison,” Kostanyan stated.

In his turn, head of forestry organization HayAntar (Armenian forest) adjunct to the Armenian Ministry of Agriculture Ruben Petrosyan said that there are no fir trees in Armenia, while pine trees are prohibited to cut since 2003.

“Armenia imports the trees,” Petrosyan added.
