Armenia's national debt at the end of 2024 amounted to 5 trillion drams, or $12.8 billion. This was stated by finance minister Vahe Hovhannisyan during Wednesday’s debates—at the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly—on the report on the course and results of the implementation of the 2024 state budget of Armenia.

According to the minister, the country’s national debt has increased by 6.2 percent compared to the end of 2023.

"However, compared to the gross domestic product, Armenia's national debt decreased by 0.1 percent and amounted to 48.3 percent, which is considered a completely stable and safe indicator," Hovhannisyan added.

Also, the ratio of taxes to GDP, as noted by the Armenian government official, amounted to 23.6 percent, which is lower than the 2023 indicator.

“However, it is also worth noting that over the past seven years, the taxes-to-GDP ratio has improved by 2.8 percent, reaching to 23.6 percent from 20.8 percent,” the finance minister added.
