Despite the information disseminated from time to time by the Azerbaijani side about ceasefire violations, a relatively stable operational situation was maintained on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border during 2024. This was stated by the minister of defense of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, during the debates on the draft of the performance of the state budget for 2024 at Friday’s meeting of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly of Armenia.

According to the minister, in order to determine the main directions for implementing systemic radical reforms in the Armed Forces of Armenia in 2024, a concept for the transformation of the army was developed, approved, and publicized. In addition, an action plan was developed based on this concept.

“Contracts for the supply of weapons, military equipment were signed with a number of resident and non-resident companies for the modernization of weapons, military equipment, as well as for the acquisition of new models. The engineering and construction work also continued. Work was carried out toward the construction and renovation of the permanent deployment places off the troops," added the Armenian defense minister.
