A meeting of the commissions for missing persons took place, during which many issues were discussed, and an agreement was reached that the noted work will continue. Armen Abazyan, Director of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia, told this to reporters in the National Assembly Friday.

“I had a meeting also with the parents [of the Armenian missing] regarding this, they were informed about the results of that meeting and the ongoing work. I do not want to go into details in points, as it contains a certain level of confidentiality,” added the Armenian NSS chief.

When asked whether he could specify the timeframe for the transfer—by Azerbaijan—of the remains of the Armenians who have died, Abazyan replied, in particular: “I cannot note timeframes.”

Abazyan emphasized that the aforesaid meeting specifically concerned the issues of the captives and the missing, and only their return, detection, and search activities are being discussed.

To the question whether there are tangible results from the ongoing negotiations on the issue of the missing, the Armenian NSS director responded: “I do not want to rush and record any gauging of mood. But you can rest assured that the Armenian side will do everything so that we will definitely have success in that direction. I am hopeful.”

And as for the results on the matter of the returning of the Armenian captives in Azerbaijan, Abazyan said: “I do not want to voice anything about tangible results at this time. Now you want to get an answer to that painful and very complex question. And that answer may be and not satisfy you. Not satisfy because we have no successes, but because we have no success specifically today."
