The trucks of “Apaven” international cargo transportation company, which organized the delivery of humanitarian cargoes through the Margara checkpoint of the Armenian-Turkish border, were escorted by Turkish road police officers. Arsen Ghazaryan, General Director of Apaven Company, Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia, Co-Chairman of the Armenian-Turkish Business Development Council, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Turkey opened the road, ensured the safety of our drivers and did not charge road tax as for humanitarian cargo,” our interlocutor said, confirming that four Armenian trucks (two with medicines and two with foodstuffs) have safely reached their destination and will return back by March 31 by the same road.

Speaking about the activities of the Armenian-Turkish Business Development Council, Ghazaryan noted that meetings with Turkish businessmen are regularly held and constant communication is maintained with them.

The activities of the Armenian-Turkish Business Development Council were temporarily suspended at the initiative of the Armenian side during the 44-day war in 2020, but after the lifting of the ban on the import of Turkish goods to Armenia, the relations between Armenian and Turkish businessmen were restored.

Arsen Ghazaryan expressed hope that after signing the peace agreement with Azerbaijan, Turkey will establish diplomatic relations with Armenia, the logical next step of which, according to the businessman, will be the permanent opening of borders with Turkey.

Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that on March 21, 4 trucks of an international trucking company headed towards “Margara” checkpoint on Armenian-Turkish border to go to Syria.

By the government's decision, the "Margara" checkpoint on the border with Turkey was put into operation from March 21 to 31 to transport humanitarian aid sent to Syria on behalf of Armenia by land through Turkey.
