The European Commission has notified Kiev that the resource agreement with the USA should be analyzed from the point of view of the fulfillment of Kyiv's obligations to the EU as part of the accession process. This was stated by the representative of the European Commission Paula Pinho at a briefing in Brussels.

“The position was brought to Ukraine that such an agreement will require analysis from the point of view of relations between the EU and Ukraine, in particular in the context of negotiations on the admission to the EU,” she said, emphasizing that the European Commission is 'open to providing advice to Kyiv' on the consequences of the conclusion of the agreement with the United States. At the same time, she said, “no specific request on this topic has been received from Ukraine”.

She also refused to comment on the claims that the agreement would actually mean the transfer of all of Ukraine's resources under the control of the USA.
