In Azerbaijani capital Baku, the Chinese delegation discussed the expansion and development of the Belt and Road Initiative in the South Caucasus, but did not discuss or raise the issue of the “Zangezur corridor.” This was stated by China's chargé d'affaires in Armenia, Chen Ming, speaking with reporters on Thursday.

“And if there is information in the media about China’s position, then these statements may be false,” he added.

The Chinese diplomat stated that his country is committed to the principle of Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Chen added that both Armenia and Azerbaijan are friendly partners of China, and Beijing believes that the two parties should try to resolve their differences through political dialogue and diplomacy.

"The Belt and Road Initiative, which we are promoting, including in the South Caucasus, is very important for establishing peace in the region. At the same time, China respects the development path chosen by each country in the region. The Chinese side will not interfere in the internal affairs of countries, and as a friendly partner of Armenia, we are interested in continuing to deepen cooperation," stressed the Chinese chargé d'affaires in Armenia.
