Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, and several other officials visited Victory Park today, on the morning of May 9.

They paid tribute on the occasion of Victory and Peace Day.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, however, is not in Armenia. He is in Moscow attending the events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

May 9 has been a triple holiday for Armenians for years: the day of the victory of the Soviet peoples in World War II, the creation of the Artsakh Defense Army, and the liberation of Shushi city of Artsakh in 1992. However, Armenians lost Shushi as a result of the painful defeat suffered in the 44-day Artsakh war in the fall of 2020.
