Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks at the Kremlin in Moscow on Thursday, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

The leaders of the two countries exchanged views on the Ukrainian crisis.

Xi noted that in the Ukrainian crisis, China upholds and adheres to the shared, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable concept of global security, and believes that the legitimate security interests of all countries should be taken seriously, and the root causes of the crisis should be eliminated. China welcomes all efforts to promote peace, and hopes to reach—through dialogue—a just, lasting, and binding peace agreement acceptable to all parties, the Chinese president added.

In Turn, Putin lauded China's objective and fair position on a political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, and noted that Russia is ready to start peace talks without preconditions and hopes to reach a fair and lasting peace agreement.
