In our assessment, the Pashinyan-Aliyev meeting was quite constructive, and the leaders of the two countries expressed their willingness to continue discussions towards signing a peace treaty. Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan said this during a briefing with reporters Monday—and regarding the recent talk between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev.

“We believe that in the near future it will be possible to continue discussions with the Azerbaijani party,” Kostanyan said.

He noted that the importance of the aforesaid Pashinyan-Aliyev meeting was not that it was around a coffee table, but the fact that the leaders of the two countries continued discussions towards advancing the shared peace agenda and the process of signing the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
