A peaceful settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan will send a strong signal to Europe that conflicts can be resolved through diplomatic dialogue. And Slovakia is ready to fully support in these efforts. This was stated by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico during his address at the Yerevan Dialogue 2025 international forum Monday in the Armenian capital.

Fico thanked Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for his leadership in the efforts aimed at a final peaceful settlement with Azerbaijan. The Slovak PM said he is very grateful for this useful and diverse information that Pashinyan just provided to all of them. The announcement made earlier this year was a decisive step towards sustainable peace and security in the region. It is important to maintain this momentum and ensure a smooth conclusion of this process on both sides, added the Slovak premier.

According to Fico, Slovakia and Armenia maintain friendly bilateral relations, they have a shared Christian heritage, Armenia is a key trading partner for Slovakia in the region, and their trade is growing. Fico said he wants to give further impetus to the expansion of their trade, especially in nuclear energy, automotive, defense, and tourism sectors, and he believes that the Armenian PM will have enough time to discuss all these aspects and prospects for cooperation.

With stronger support, Armenia’s relations with the European Union (EU) will become even closer, noted the Slovak premier, adding that his country is ready to share its experience in implementing complex market and social reforms to help fully realize the potential of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and the visa liberalization dialogue.

Also, the Slovak premier expressed support for the EU Monitoring Mission in Armenia, and emphasized that Armenia’s contribution to ensuring stability in the Western Balkans is highly appreciated.
