French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot has confirmed Paris' support for the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Barrot announced this at a press conference in Yerevan on Monday.
"I have come to confirm France's support for Armenia and the peace agreement that emerged as a result of the most difficult negotiations. I welcome the courage of [Armenian] Prime Minister [Nikol] Pashinyan. As my [US] colleague [Marco] Rubio said, it is time to sign and ratify the peace treaty. This is what France, the US, and Europe want," Barrot said.
In addition, the French FM stressed the importance of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity. Also, he noted that the development of cooperation in the military sector and the supply of weapons are also aimed at helping Armenia ensure its independence and sovereignty.
