The European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, was unable to be here today, but she will come to Armenia in late June or early July. This was announced by the secretary general of the European External Action Service (EEAS), Belen Martinez Carbonell, during the Yerevan Dialogue 2025 international forum on Monday in the Armenian capital.

Carbonell expressed confidence that Kallas will promote EU assistance in achieving efforts to sign a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as support the reforms being implemented in Armenia.

The head of the EEAS noted that constructive relations have been established between Armenia and the EU, adding that negotiations are underway on a new partnership agenda.

Carbonell said that the EU wants Armenia to be included in regional discussions in line with the principle of interconnectedness, including within the framework of the Armenian initiative Crossroads of Peace.

Also, the EEAS official pointed to the importance of the dialogue between Armenia and the EU on visa liberalization in order to intensify cooperation in the tourism sector.

The last point of cooperation is security. Two years ago, the EU launched its monitoring mission in Armenia, which helps monitor the situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Carbonell noted.
