Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said that an arms embargo on his country would lead to the elimination of the Israeli state and a “second holocaust,” Middle East Eye reported.

Saar spoke Tuesday at an international conference on anti-Semitism in Jerusalem.

“If, God forbid, the calls and actions of countries and politicians to impose an arms embargo on Israel succeed, the result will be the destruction of Israel and a second Holocaust,” he said.

Spain this week called on European countries to suspend arms shipments amid Israel's ongoing siege of the Gaza Strip.

At a Madrid Group meeting, Spain's foreign minister called for the immediate suspension of Europe's cooperation agreement with Israel and the imposition of an arms embargo.

“What is the meaning of the actions or statements of politicians or countries that impose an arms embargo on Israel?” - Saar asked in response.

"If such steps succeed, Israel will simply be destroyed. Another Holocaust will take place - in the land of Israel. In essence, this is a way of depriving the Jewish people of the means of self-defense. The means they lacked during the long years of exile and during the Holocaust," he added.

Israel's largest arms suppliers are the United States, Germany and Italy.
