The Russian Ministry of Justice has added the British organization Amnesty International Limited to the list of organizations whose activities are recognized as undesirable on the territory of the country. This is reported on the website of the ministry.

The Prosecutor General's Office recognized the NGO's activities as undesirable on May 19. The department said that the organization positions itself as a human rights organization, but "in reality it is a center for the preparation of global Russophobic projects." According to the agency, the organization's members justify the crimes of Ukrainian neo-Nazis and insist on the political and economic isolation of Russia. 

Amnesty International (AI) Limited was founded in the UK in 1961. It draws attention to human rights violations and fights for compliance with international standards. The organization has been awarded the Nobel Prize for its work, as well as the UN Human Rights Prize. In March 2022, Roskomnadzor blocked the NGO's website because of “calls for mass disorder, extremism, participation in illegal mass actions”.
