BMW has introduced a light modification of its M2 coupe, the name of which contains the prefix CS and is equipped with a high-performance engine, reports Drom.ru.

The standard 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine of the BMW M2 G87 develops 50 horsepower and 50 Nm more on the new M2 CS, to 530 horsepower and 650 Nm, respectively.

The BMW M2 CS will be offered exclusively in a rear-wheel drive modification. However, the manufacturer has decided not to offer the M2 CS with a manual transmission, which the original M2 can be equipped with at the request of the customer, but only an 8-speed automatic from ZF.

The performance of the engine cooling and lubrication systems has been increased.

By replacing the standard chassis and interior elements with lightweight parts, the weight of the M2 CS has been reduced by 44 kg.

The new version includes a carbon fiber roof panel, trunk lid, diffuser, side mirror housings, and new sports front seat supports.

The M2 CS chassis has been given greater torsional rigidity by strengthening the engine mounts.

The suspension uses original springs and shock absorbers, and the ground clearance has been reduced by 5 mm.

For an additional fee, the BMW M2 CS will be offered with carbon-ceramic brakes.

These lightweight coupes will be manufactured at the BMW plant in Mexico, and the production plan is limited.

The retail price of the M2 CS modification will be at least 1.5 times higher than the standard BMW M2.
