The death toll in the explosion and partial collapse of a residential building in Armenia’s Chambarak town has risen to six.
The latest casualty found was Karapet Karinyan, 69, who had died in the hallway of this building while returning from work, and remained under the panel, a resident of this building told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that at 8:34am on Wednesday, the crisis management center of the Gegharkunik provincial rescue department of Armenia received a report that a fire had broken out in an apartment in a building in Chambarak town.
According to preliminary data, a natural gas explosion had occurred in an apartment on the third floor of the aforesaid building. As a result, the apartments on the fourth, third, and second floors of the building collapsed. And apartments in the adjacent entrance of this building partially collapsed.
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has launched criminal proceedings into the Chambarak explosion.
