Amid the dangerous escalation resulting from Israel’s military operation against Iran, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, the Kremlin press service reports.

President Putin extended condolences to the leadership and people of Iran over the numerous casualties, including civilians, caused by the Israeli strikes.

He emphasized that Russia condemns Israel’s actions, which were carried out in violation of the UN Charter and international law.

According to Putin, Russia has consistently supported efforts to resolve issues surrounding Iran’s nuclear program through peaceful means and has proposed specific initiatives aimed at reaching mutually acceptable agreements.

He added that Russia will continue to contribute to de-escalating the conflict between Iran and Israel.
