The UN Security Council is holding an emergency meeting at Tehran’s request following Israel’s massive strikes on Iran, reports RIA Novosti.

On Friday night, Israel launched airstrikes on Iran. The objective of the operation was the nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic. The Israeli Air Force targeted uranium enrichment plants in Natanz and Fordow, missile bases in Kermanshah and Khorramabad, as well as Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, and other major Iranian cities.

As a result of the strikes, IRGC commander Hossein Salami, Chief of the General Staff Mohammad Bagheri, the commander of the IRGC air defense base “Khatam al-Anbiya,” Major General Gholam-Ali Rashid, and other high-ranking military officials were killed, along with six nuclear scientists. Explosions were also reported at the nuclear facility in Natanz. According to Iranian agencies, 78 people were killed and over 300 injured in the Israeli attacks.

In response, Iran is launching missiles toward Israel. Currently, 15 people have been reported injured as a result of Tehran’s counterattack.
