The U.S. representative to the UN spoke in defense of Israel's attacks on Iran, stating that the Israeli government had told Washington that the bombings were “necessary for self-defense,” reports Al Jazeera.
“Every sovereign country has the right to self-defense, and Israel is no exception.
The United States was informed about the strikes in advance but was not militarily involved in these strikes. Our absolute, top priority is the protection of U.S. citizens, personnel, and forces in the region,” said Pitt at the UN Security Council meeting.
He stated that Tehran should not attack American troops in the region. “The consequences for Iran would be dire,” the diplomat warned.
