U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said that during the night, he had to take shelter in bomb shelters five times when Iran launched a series of retaliatory missile strikes on Israel.

“It was a tough night in Israel,” wrote Huckabee, who is in the country, on social media platform X on Saturday morning.

Huckabee added that Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest observed every Saturday, was supposed to be peaceful, but “likely won’t be.”

On Wednesday, the U.S. State Department and the Department of Defense organized the evacuation of secondary personnel from locations across the Middle East, two days before Israel carried out its strike.

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee was appointed by U.S. President Donald Trump to the post in Jerusalem in November of last year.

He has always been a staunch supporter of Israel and once even stated that “there is no such thing as a Palestinian.”
