Washington deliberately supported the narrative of planned negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program while knowing about the impending attack on Iran. This was stated by former U.S. State Department official Aaron Miller in an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times.

“They were cooperating with the Israelis to that extent, and the ruse clearly worked,” he said.

Earlier, the official spokesperson of the Islamic Republic’s foreign ministry, Esmail Baghaei, stated that the next round of negotiations between Iran and the U.S. aimed at resolving differences over Iran’s nuclear program — scheduled for June 15 — has not yet been canceled.

Since April 2025, the U.S. and Iran have been conducting indirect negotiations on the nuclear issue with Oman as a mediator. The sixth round of talks was to take place in Muscat on Sunday, but after the Israeli strikes, its holding is now in doubt.
