Russia is ready to mediate in the settlement of the conflict between Israel and Iran, and contacts have been established on this matter, said Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, RBC reports.

Peskov was asked whether contacts on mediation were planned.

“You know that in the last few days [Russian President Vladimir] Putin has had several important telephone conversations,” he said.

Peskov stressed that Russia is ready to provide mediation services if necessary. The Kremlin spox said the proposals made by Putin in a call with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, were appropriate.

Russia noted that Western countries have not expressed a clear condemnation of Iran, Peskov continued.

“We see that the international community is divided into a camp of those who condemned the beginning of what is happening and those who supported it. We notice this,” the Kremlin spokesman concluded.

On June 13, Israel attacked Iran, which was followed by retaliatory measures. Military actions between the two countries are continuing.
