The United States sees no sign that Iran could attack American military bases in the Middle East in the near future, two US officials familiar with the matter have said, reports NBC.

Iran is ready to strike US military bases and facilities in the Middle East if it wants to. But there is no indication that this will happen in the near future, the aforesaid officials told NBC.

They added that fears of an attack on US military bases by Iran or its proxies have increased after Israel began striking Iran last week.

US military bases and facilities have been on high alert for several months, NBC reported.

On June 13, Israel attacked Iran, and this was followed by retaliatory measures by Iran. Military actions between the two countries are continuing to this day.
