The military action against Iran's nuclear program was the right decision, but the overthrow of the government of the Islamic Republic is not Israel's objective, Israeli President Isaac Herzog told Bild.

According to him, this threat must be eliminated, which Israel is doing. Herzog stressed that the Jewish state has no objective related to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, or regime change in the Islamic Republic.

The Israeli president added that the killing of Khamenei could be a "side effect" that could be beneficial for the Iranian people in the long run. Earlier, The New York Times reported that US intelligence agencies believe that Iran could begin developing nuclear weapons if Washington attacks the Fordow underground nuclear facility of Iran, or if Israel kills Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The previous day, Axios, citing sources, reported that the US could strike the Iranian underground nuclear facility in Fordow with the world's most powerful non-nuclear bomb. On June 13, Israel attacked Iran, and this was followed by retaliatory measures by Iran. Military actions between the two countries are continuing to this day.
