Russia meets up to 95 percent of Armenia's needs for essential goods, such as wheat, sugar and vegetable oil, while Armenia ensures uninterrupted supply of fruits, vegetables, and processed products. This was stated by Gohar Barseghyan, Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

To note, the EEC is the executive body of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

According to Barseghyan, the EAEU has become a safe platform for food supplies during the crisis, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Both countries [i.e. Armenia and Russia] complement each other's markets. There is great potential for cooperation in the domain of seed production, animal husbandry, and food," added the EEC minister.
