Armenia's rapprochement with the European Union (EU) countries negatively affects its collaboration with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russia is closely monitoring the situation and assessing the risks. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk stated this at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Overchuk noted that Russia can no longer ignore the changes taking place in Armenia "from the point of view of the regulations being adopted there now" and is analyzing these processes.

"One cannot not ignore and not think about these issues. We [i.e. Russia] are thinking about this and assessing the risks," added the Russian deputy PM.

"We still see a decline in trade with the EAEU, we see a decline in trade with Russia. But this year we have seen good growth in trade with the European Union also, but at the same time, a decline in exports from Armenia to the European Union, meaning this growth [of trade] does not create added value," Overchuk noted.
