U.S. and European diplomats said confidential talks are underway about who will next lead Iran, whether nuclear facilities and materials can be secured, and the possible consequences for regional allies from military strikes on nuclear sites, CBS News report.

"Trump has expressed frustration in recent weeks that while Iran has come to the negotiating table, its leaders have shown no willingness to actually negotiate. Iran has not responded for two weeks to the latest U.S. Witkoff offer and has not rejected but not accepted its terms, a U.S. official told CBS News.

"At the same time, negotiators did not directly discuss the details or terms of the offer.  This lack of substantive engagement has caused the Trump administration to question whether Iran is negotiating in good faith or simply stalling," CBS News noted.
