The United States has violated international law and the nuclear non-proliferation regime by attacking Iranian civilian sites in Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow. The strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure will have long-term consequences, said Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister.

“The United States, as a permanent member of the Security Council, has grossly violated the UN Charter, international law norms, and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons by attacking peaceful nuclear facilities in Iran. This morning’s events are outrageous and will have long-lasting consequences,” the Foreign Minister wrote on X.

He also emphasized that in accordance with the UN Charter, which allows for lawful self-defense, the Republic reserves the right to defend its sovereignty and national interests.
