In a brief interview with NBC News, US Vice President J.D. Vance stated that the US is “not at war with Iran.”

“We are at war with its nuclear program,” he said. Vance declined to confirm with 100% certainty that Iran’s nuclear facilities had been fully destroyed. However, he said the US had “substantially delayed” the development of Iran’s nuclear program, and now the US and its allies will work toward the “complete” dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program.

Vance also said that President Donald Trump now hopes to find a diplomatic solution to the conflict.

“The Iranians are clearly not very good at war. Perhaps they should follow President Trump’s lead and give peace a chance,” Vance said. “If they’re serious about it, I guarantee you the President of the United States is too.”
