The Iranian foreign ministry has handed a note of protest to Swiss ambassador to Tehran Nadine Olivieri Lozano, who also represents the US in the Islamic Republic, over the US military strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, Tasnim News Agency reports.
The document states that this US attack is a gross violation of the UN Charter and other documents prohibiting attacks on nuclear facilities used for peaceful purposes.
In a talk with the Swiss ambassador, head of the US department of the Iranian foreign ministry, Issa Kameli, stressed that Iran has the right to defend its territory, and ensure security and national interests in accordance with the UN Charter.
In turn, Lozano said that she will immediately hand the aforesaid note to members of the US government. Early Sunday morning, US President Donald Trump announced that the US military had successfully attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities—in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
He said that Tehran must agree to end the conflict. Israel has been carrying out daily strikes on Iran since June 13 as part of its operation against Iran's nuclear program.
