Hungary and Slovakia have opposed the adoption of the 18th package of sanctions against Russia at the meeting of European Union (EU) foreign ministers in Brussels, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said during a break in this meeting in the Belgian capital on Monday.
“Today, together with Slovakia, we prevented the adoption of the 18th package of sanctions. We did this because in this case, EU countries, including Hungary and Slovakia, would be prohibited from buying Russian natural gas and cheap Russian crude oil,” Szijjarto told Hungarian reporters.
