The latest US strikes on Iran's nuclear infrastructure pose a serious challenge to the existing nuclear non-proliferation regime, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has said.

"The nuclear non-proliferation regime continues to operate legally. But in reality, it has received a powerful blow as a result of airstrikes on Iranian territory," the Kremlin spox told reporters.

The US on Sunday joined Israel's military operation against Iran, and carried out airstrikes on the country’s main nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. According to the American side, these facilities were completely destroyed as a result. But the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) noted that it still does not have complete information about the scale of the destruction.
