NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has rejected claims that international law has been violated by recent US strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities. 

“I strongly disagree with you,” he said at a press conference in The Hague on the eve of a summit of NATO countries, answering a journalist's question about the legality of Washington's actions. At the same time, Rutte did not explain his position in detail. 

He also emphasized that all allies in the alliance are united in the opinion that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons. At the same time, NATO Secretary General refrained from commenting on Tehran's threat to block the Strait of Hormuz.

On the night of June 22, the U.S. struck three sites of the Iranian nuclear program - in Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan. According to the American side, the purpose of the operation was to destroy or significantly weaken Iran's nuclear energy capabilities.
