Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which the parties discussed the prospects of putting the Iran-Israel conflict on the path of peaceful settlement. This was announced by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov, TASS reports.

According to Peskov, cardinal disagreements remain between Iran and Israel, and the situation remains extremely tense.

During the talks, Putin characterized the strikes on Iran as unprovoked aggression that has no justification. He emphasized that Russia is making efforts to support the Iranian people.

Araghchi, for his part, thanked Moscow for its “strong condemnation” of the U.S. and Israeli actions, saying Russia is taking “the right position.” He also emphasized that further escalation of the conflict is linked to attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.

The aggravation of the situation between Iran and Israel began on June 13 after Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. In response, Tehran launched counterattacks. On June 22, the United States joined the attack.
