NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said it is necessary to ensure that Turkey's defense-industrial base is linked as closely as possible with the UK, Norway and the EU.

 According to him, Turkey has a very large-scale defense industrial base. He emphasized that this fact cannot be ignored. “I have visited some of their companies, it is really impressive,” he said, referring to his visit to a Turkish defense industry company.

Rutte said “the erection of barriers to the Turkish defense industry by North Atlantic allies is unacceptable.”
