The Hraparak daily of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: The new—one might say, unprecedented—phase of repressions that has begun in Armenia, when a national benefactor [i.e. Russian Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan] is arrested for a single sentence [against the Armenian authorities], and mass detentions are carried out on the day of the prime minister's visit to Turkey, so that he prove to [Turkish president] Erdogan that he is in control of the situation in the country, according to some information, was not welcomed by Armenia's international partners.

The ambassadors of European countries to Armenia have demanded explanations from the [Armenian] political authorities, warning that openly anti-democratic steps are being taken. Perhaps this is why the authorities yesterday invented the false theory that as if the [Armenian Apostolic] Church, Samvel Karapetyan, [ex-presidents] Serzh Sargsyan, and Robert Kocharyan organized a coup d'état, and publicized a paper that anyone can fabricate. They want to present that as if they have prevented the sequence of steps regarding overthrowing the government.
