Russia hopes that there will be no new escalation of tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan. They are already very close to signing a peace treaty, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said at a press briefing, reports TASS.

“We hope that this will not happen,” the Kremlin spox emphasized.

“The [two] countries are very close to completing the work on the [peace] agreement, and we [i.e. Russia] hope that this work will be completed. This agreement is very necessary for the climate of stability and security in the region,” noted the Russian leader’s spokesperson.

Also, Peskov stated that if necessary, Russia was ready to provide assistance and do everything to resolve the conflict and sign a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, reports Komsomolskaya Pravda.
