In May, we recorded quite good economic indicators, which is important in my preliminary observation as follows that it seems that thanks to certain reforms, conceptual approaches, formulations, of course, also thanks to the activities of our business community and our compatriots engaged in economic activity, our economy is showing certain manifestations of flexibility in quickly responding to situations and their changes, which may be the most important recording, if, of course, we can reaffirm at the research level that this perception is correct. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government.

Pashinyan reaffirmed that in May, Armenia recorded an economic activity index of 10.4 percent compared to May of the previous year, and already by comparing this result, January-May recorded an economic activity index of 5.7 percent compared to January-May of the previous year.

"In this context, I consider it important to emphasize that in May also we have an absolute record of registered jobs in Armenia. In May, 790,320 jobs with an ensured salary were registered in Armenia, which is 242,331 more than in May 2018, or 44 percent; that is, 242,000 [new] jobs were created in Armenia compared to May 2018.

The salary fund [of Armenia] is 146 billion drams, or 151 percent, more than in May 2018; that is, the salary fund has increased 2.5 times.

There is a very important indicator related to income tax [in Armenia]: the income tax indicator has doubled compared to May 2018. I would like to draw our attention to the fact that we have reduced the income tax rate by establishing a flat income tax rate. But as a result, tax revenues have more than doubled, by 101 percent, and the average salary [in Armenia] has increased by 74 percent," Pashinyan said.
