Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in China on an official visit, met with secretary general Nurlan Yermekbayev of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Armenian foreign ministry informs.

The interlocutors discussed the collaboration between Armenia and the SCO, and expressed mutual satisfaction with the established active dialogue and the results already recorded in Armenia’s status as an SCO partner country.

Also, Mirzoyan emphasized Armenia’s position on expanding its engagement within the SCO. Minister He stressed that Armenia’s approaches to establishing peace in the South Caucasus are based also on the fundamental principles that were laid down in the establishment of the SCO, including respect for territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders.

Both sides emphasized the importance of expanding regional connectivity and strengthening economic ties in the current circumstances. In this context, Minister Mirzoyan reflected on the Crossroads of Peace project developed by the Armenian government—and which has already received positive feedback from a number of SCO member states.
