GLENDALE. – American congressman Adam Schiff responded to Shant Armenian’s request, a student at an Armenian school in Glendale, to invite an astronaut to the school.

Last year, 9-year-old Shant Armenian wrote a letter to Rep. Adam Schiff and told that he is interested in space and asked to invite an astronaut from NASA.

“Shant wrote me a wonderful, moving letter,” he said. “I get a lot of letters from kids on a variety of things. It was clear that he had deep, abiding interest in space and in science, which I can relate to, because I share it.”

On Friday Schiff with NASA astronaut Gregory Chamitoff visited the school, where the astronaut gave a presentation on his experience and answered questions from students, Glendale News-Press reports.

Shant in his turn said that meeting a real astronaut was important to him because he aspires to become one.

‘It has always been my dream to go to Mars,” he said. “I want to be the first person to go to Mars.”
