Kaja Kallas, the Vice-President of the European Union (EU) Commission and High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said that she has arrived in Armenia with a clear message.

The EU has never been so close to Armenia, Kallas said at a press conference in Armenia’s capital Yerevan on Monday.

Noting the success of the reforms in Armenia in recent years, the EU foreign policy chief assured that she was ready to deepen cooperation with the country in various domains. As financial assistance, she noted the 2024-27 business assistance program in the amount of 270 million euros, and the social assistance for displaced persons. But Kallas did not specify where and why these people were displaced.

The EU High Representative noted the importance of developing people-to-people contacts, and the dialogue on Armenia-EU visa liberalization. Kallas noted the EU's activities in promoting peace and stability, in connection with which she emphasized the important role of the EU civilian monitoring mission in Armenia. Kallas added that she visited this mission on Sunday and got familiarized with its activities.

Also, the EU foreign policy chief announced that a framework agreement on crisis management was signed today, enabling Armenia to participate in EU missions around the world.

And once again stressing the need to promote democracy in Armenia, Kaja Kallas assured that the EU stands with the country to support its efforts.
