YEREVAN. –U.S. and Armenia continued their close cooperation on the issues of bilateral interest in 2011, Armenian MFA’s 2011 report reads.

Activities were carried out to strengthen political and trade economic relations last year. Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian visited U.S. last May, where he met with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and congressmen. Then Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg visited Armenia on February 23-24, 2011. Later Armenian FM met with U.S. incumbent Deputy Secretary of State William Burns within the 66th session of the UN General Assembly, followed by Burns’ visit to Armenia last October.

Armenia-U.S. inter-governmental commission annual session was held in September in Washington. Financial assistance of the U.S. to Armenia made $44.7 million in 2011.
