YEREVAN. – Armenia’s political powers should be concerned about the system of holding parliamentary elections no matter majoritarian, proportional or mixed, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Co-Rapporteur on Armenia John Prescott told at a meeting with ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) representatives led by the head of RPA parliamentary group Galust Sahakyan.

One of RPA representatives Hovhannes Sahakyan, who was present at the meeting, unveiled some details from the meeting to the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent.

“We presented to Prescott reforms run in Armenia, in particular, changes in legal-judicial, police systems,” he said adding that Prescott touched the theme of calling to approve the opposition demands on the shift to 100% proportional list. “Armenian political powers should be concerned on how to hold the upcoming parliamentary election-majoritarian, proportional or mixed. This is Armenia’s domestic political issue. According to Prescott, the system itself is not as important as the correspondence of the elections to free and fair standards.”
